Position Setting: The New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) is a public sector entity,
responsible for building new public schools and managing the design, construction and renovation of capital projects in New York City’s more than 1,200 public school buildings. Our mission is to design and construct safe, attractive and environmentally sound public schools for children throughout the many communities of New York City. Job Description: The Internal Communications, a unit of the Human Resources division, is responsible for delivering information to its employees. Internal Communications produces a quarterly newsletter, eSCApades, which keeps staff in the loop about business activity, the movements and achievements of other staff, company events, competitions and business related announcements. In addition to the newsletter, Internal Communications manages the content displayed via eDigital signs situated throughout the building at 30-30 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City and works with the agency-wide Communications Committee to enhance other communications venues, including the authority’s intranet(SCAN) and internet websites.
Work Schedule
During the academic school year, participants are allowed to work up to twenty-hours per
week. During the summer months, students work a full-time schedule of 35 hours per
week. Internship Description
Salary: $15.00 per hour
Program Duration
Academic Year: November – May
Summer: June – August
This position is slated to begin in November, 2014, with the potential to continue through
the summer and the remainder of the student’s undergraduate studies.
Position Requirements:
• Full-time Sophomore or Junior currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor
Degree program for Communications, Business or Computer Science.
• Candidates must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of Photoshop and HTML is required. Knowledge of Dreamweaver
is preferred.
GPA Requirement
Cumulative 3.0 or above GPA
