IDEO.org has an opportunity for a Graphic Design Intern to work with our New York studio. The intern will work the IDEO.org core team and project teams across a range of projects and mediums, from print design, presentation design, product interactions, and digital interaction design. This may include preparation of board meeting documents, internal presentations and initiative materials, helping project teams with partner deliverables, and more.
Prototyping and production skills are essential, as well as a passion for design and a point of view about your work. The ideal candidate has strong visualization and prototyping skills in addition to being comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams.
Once you are here you will:
- Create IDEO.org’s internal graphic design projects and initiatives.
- Support the development of IDEO.org’s digital presence online.
- Craft and evolve IDEO.org’s visual identity.
- Support IDEO.org project teams.
- Bring communications design expertise to the IDEO.org team.
- Inspire teams through collaboration, as well as the direction, vision, and planning all aspects of visual deliverables.
- Initiate internal projects and creating systems for everyone to incorporate design into their work.
- Work on projects that spread across print, packaging, and brand identity to interactive projects for screens, devices, and space.
- Create prototypes of different levels of fidelity to help determine design direction for a project.
- Contribute to IDEO.org New York studio culture.
Qualifications
- Well-versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Has a strong portfolio demonstrating a range of deliverables from print, presentations, iconography and illustration.
- Strong design fundamentals (color, form, type, layout) and the ability to experiment.
- Keen attention to detail and execution in craft.
- Proficiency in web design and digital applications.
- Experience and knowledge of interaction design, UX design a plus.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Team player who can adapt to social and professional situations.
- Independent self-starter; ability to multi-task in a highly energetic, fast-paced environment.
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a professional degree program or an undergraduate program.
