Environmental Graphic Design Intern

Gensler’s Brand Design studio is a collaborative team of designers, strategists, digital media experts, and storytellers that engage with a wide variety of clients on projects of all sizes. Our work ranges from print collateral and websites to campus signage systems and international brand positioning. As Gensler brand designers, we help our clients tell their unique stories effectively via every channel available in today’s diverse media landscape. Our approach combines design and architectural expertise with a unique point of view and strong communication skills. Your Role
As a Gensler Environmental Graphic Design Intern, your job is to support the design objectives of a wide variety of graphic design project types, including environmental, print, digital, and brand development. You will not be getting coffee or performing menial tasks but rather be challenged to operate as a full contributing member on a number of challenging projects.
What You Will Do
- Participate in the conceptualization and Visioning of projects to help define the strategic goals and aesthetic direction of projects
- Collaborate with designers, strategists, directors, and managers to plan, design, develop, and ultimately manage the implementation of projects (i.e. retail stores, branded workplaces, or cultural institutions)
- Work closely with architects and interior designers to realize projects that seamlessly blend physical environments and brand expressions
- Gain real-world experience working with clients large and small across a spectrum of industries and locations
- Collaborate with your fellow interns on a student-led project to help improve a local community in need through the power of design
Your Qualifications
- A demonstrably strong grasp of the fundamentals of graphic design (color theory, typography, composition, scale, etc.)
- A perfectionist’s attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
- The willingness to take direction and the desire to learn from design professionals from a variety of disciplines
- A great eye combined with an awareness of style and technology in graphics, architecture, and interiors
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with CADTools and designing in architectural scale is a plus
- All candidates must have completed their third year of undergraduate education or first year of graduate education
