UNDERSTANDING GAME DESIGN AND CULTURE (ONLINE CLASS)

UNDERSTANDING GAME DESIGN AND CULTURE (ONLINE CLASS)

The structures used in creating fun and unique gaming experiences — dynamic systems, active participation, playful improvisation — aren’t relegated solely to the realm of the game. They also give us interesting insight into our broader world. Using examples of digital games and some live participation, this class looks at how game design principles can help us understand media, design, and culture.

About the Image:
“The Secrets of Tomb 10A”  was created for a book series about  time travel.  For this piece I  researched hieroglyphics and became fascinated with the fantastic and whimsical the carvings of ancient Egypt. This piece is acrylic, pastel and a little bit digital.  © 2012 Elizabeth Sayles
