Diverse Streets Initiative is looking for an intern

OVERVIEW

The Diverse Streets Initiative is an informal grassroots organization that utilizes streets as temporary public solidarity spaces. With multiple mediums, including the arts and community organizing, we use streets to bridge different communities together on topics that impact all BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and immigrant folks. From October to March, we will be focusing on culminating our “Resilience Series”.

THE CANDIDATE WILL:

  1. Assist the director and co-director (founder and co-founder) with social media development and content
  2. Assist the director and co-director with community outreach, including stakeholders (restaurants, small business owners, public institutions, community organizations etc.)
  3. Assist the director and co-director with designing and distributing a zine centered on public safety and health in the public realm
  4. Assist the director and co-director with poster event design

REQUIREMENTS:

●  Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program

●  Interest in multiple of the following: Art or Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Urban History etc.

●  Proficiency in social media platforms such as a facebook and instagram

●  Can work in a fast paced environment

●  Availability to work 10 hours a week between October – March

●  Active and good listener

●  Creative designer

●  Can conduct community outreach

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

●  Familiar with the following software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign;

●  Familiar with unfold, square grid, and other social media programs

●  Ability to multitask

●  Bilingual proficiency

●  Experience with community organizations

●  Experience with graphic design

●  Familiar with the Public Realm

●  Advocate of social justice and the arts
