Spring Internships at Printed Matter

Overview:
Printed Matter seeks curious and enthusiastic applicants to its Spring Internship Program! Founded in 1976, Printed Matter is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination, understanding and appreciation of artists’ books and related publications. The Printed Matter internship program offers the opportunity to gain familiarity with the vibrant field of artists’ publications as well as develop hands-on experience in a dynamic and vital non-profit arts organization.

Job Summary:
Interns assist with the daily and ongoing operations of Printed Matter, including programming activities, in-store events, and all aspects of maintaining a busy bookshop. This includes assistance with processing review submissions, supporting social media, exhibition preparation and installation, shelving books and organizing stock, and other tasks. There are also opportunities for writing, research, administrative assistance, and other longer-term projects.

Interns should demonstrate a passion for artists’ books, arts publishing, and contemporary art, as well as Printed Matter’s mission. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or inventory management software is a plus.

Compensation:
Interns are expected to commit 2 days a week (Mon-Fri) to the internship. Internships are unpaid; however, a daily stipend of $100/day, paid biweekly, will be provided. School credit can also be arranged. Please note this is an in-person position.
