4A’s Foundation’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP)

The 4A’s Foundation’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) is a highly intensive fellowship that provides students with the opportunity to work in the advertising, communications and marketing industries. MAIP fellows interact with industry professionals on a day-to-day basis to gain valuable professional ​experience. Students selected for the MAIP fellowship program will hone their skills in a variety of advertising/marketing disciplines. Throughout the MAIP experience, MAIP Fellows will:

  • Participate in a 22-week internship program
  • Complete up to 10 weeks virtual training series prior to the internship, designed to prepare fellows for the industry 
  • Engage in a 9-10 week PAID internship with one of the 4A’s Foundation’s partner organizations
  • Attend live, virtual professional development sessions (based in the Eastern Standard Time Zone)
  • Work 1:1 with a MAIP Coach, an industry professional volunteering their time to support a fellow’s professional and personal development

Who can apply to MAIP?

The 4A’s Foundation welcomes applicants who represent all dimensions of diversity with a strong interest in working within the advertising/communications industry. Our previous Fellows represented some or all aspects of the following:

  • Demonstrated their passion to kick-start a career in advertising and marketing through application essays and within the interview
  • Identified as Asian/Asian American, Black/African American/Afro-Caribbean, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Middle Eastern, White, Multi-Racial or Multi-Ethnic (e.g. Hispanic and Black)
  • Identified as neurodiverse and/or has learning and thinking differences
  • Identified as part of the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Identified as a person with a disability
  • Were veterans, or underwent training that supports serving the U.S. in a branch of the Armed Forces

​We recognize that no two applicants are alike and we look forward to getting to know you! We encourage students with all backgrounds interested in advertising, communications and marketing to apply.

In addition, applicants must:

  • Be eligible to work in the U.S., by way of student work visas and/or are citizens of the U.S.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0
    • ​Students with a <3.0 GPA may submit an additional statement with additional context
  • ​Be within the following academic year:
    • Undergraduate college senior graduating in Fall/Winter 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025
    • Undergraduate college junior graduating in Spring/Summer 2026
    • Graduate student currently pursuing additional education in a specific field
    • And/or are a student attending a participating 4A’s portfolio school at the time of application*
  • Be available to participate in the full duration of the 22-week fellowship period, and work as an intern from June through August with no pre-planned time off

*Students on the quarter system must arrange early release with their academic department before applying as the fellowship kicks off in June.
