Multicultural Advertising Intern Program

We are the Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) team and we wanted to reach out to let you know about an exciting fellowship opportunity for diverse college juniors, college seniors, graduate students, and portfolio school students: MAIP. Since 1973, the MAIP Program, now in its 47th year, provides diverse students with equitable access to the advertising and marketing industry. 
 
This past summer, we transitioned to the MAIP Virtual Engagement Program in response to COVID-19. MAIP fellows participated in a 12-week virtual engagement program where they had the opportunity to connect with 90+ participating agencies/industry partners through transferable skill trainings, discipline-specific trainings, and more. Fellows also participated in summer projects and the 4A’s Foundation provided $25,000 in cash prizes to the top 2 teams.
 
Whether it’s virtual or in-person, we are excited to let you know that our #MAIP2021 applications are currently open. Applications will close on October 31st, 2020 (11:59 pm ET). Fellows will have a paid internship in the advertising industry coupled with the amazing experience we provide them as a MAIP fellow. The goal is to continue providing fellows the space and opportunity to build a foundation for their careers.
 
 
Program Breakdown: 
·         Virtual Spring Training 
o    Fellows engage in a 12-week virtual training series on topics within the industry intended to prepare fellows for their agency experience
·         MAIP Coach
o    Industry professionals volunteer to coach a fellow throughout their MAIP experience. Fellows are pair with their coaches based on location, agency/organization, or discipline
·         Internship Program
o    Fellows complete a 10-week internship with some of the top advertising agencies across the country
·         MAIP Labs
o    Agencies across the country volunteer to host workshops in the evening to contribute to fellows’ professional growth and development.
·         The Face of Talent
o    Fellows attend a week-long series of workshops, panels, and a career fair to celebrate their MAIP experience and network
 
We welcome all students who have a passion for advertising to apply (regardless of their major) but would appreciate it if you could share the opportunity with students who are in any of the following majors/programs: marketing/advertising/mathematics/computer science/communications/graphic design/art. What does the Product and Design Teams do?

The product and design team is responsible for imagining, building, and maintaining the core set of experiences through which our readers discover and consume our journalism across all platforms.
They are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our iOS and Android applications, our website, our email newsletter templates, our multimedia experiences, and tools that help our readers save, follow and otherwise interact with our journalism across these platforms.


This event is part of a new virtual lecture series with COMD x NYT to learn more about there 2021 Summer Internship Program.
The NYTimes Summer Internship Program is a 10-week, paid program that takes place at our headquarters in New York City. Opportunities include our Technology, Advertising, Marketing, Product and Design, and Data teams.

Design & Production Coordinator Job

TEMPORARY: Design & Production Coordinator
JCCA is one of the oldest child and family services agency in New York City.  Our mission is to provide the highest quality child welfare and mental health services to New York’s neediest and most vulnerable children and families to ensure that their safety, permanency and well-being leads to a life of stability and promise. In addition to serving as an in-house vendor for communication materials to 37 programs across the agency, the Communication & Marketing department produces internal and external agency communications, print and event collateral for Fund Development and Advocacy campaigns, and maintains website and social media accounts. The Temporary Design and Production Coordinator will work remotely with Communications and Marketing Director, Marketing Specialist and Online Marketing Coordinator to produce a large volume of print and online content for large child and family services non-profit.
Responsibilities

  • Design and produce flyers, brochures, fundraising materials, screen graphics for email and web, event collateral (invitations, forms, posters), and promotional items
  • Manage production workflow with outside vendors, as well as outside designers or consultants when necessary
  • Coordinate printed material and promo item distribution across agency, manage inventory
  • Update program brochures and create new ones when necessary
  • Ensure consistent visual brand across all print materials and agency website

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with tight timelines
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff, media contacts and elected officials
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.
  • Top-notch eye for design and typography
  • Must have high-speed broadband connection and Adobe Creative Suite.

Education and Skills Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, HTML, Microsoft Office.

*This is a temporary position, up to 35-hours per week, 100% remote*

Hi friends! I’m hosting an online design mentorship from October 2020 to December 2020.
I will be selecting 2-3 designers to work with!
Mentorship Includes:
-Portfolio reviews
-Resume reviews
-Providing feedback on a project that you’re currently working on or would like to begin working on
-Advice from my experience working as a designer: Working in-house v. freelance, how to write a contract, project planning, etc.
– 2 meetings a month, 6 meetings total

The Daily

  • Work with design team leads, project managers, producers and writers to provide graphic design support across digital and print media.
  • Observing, participating in and learning about what goes on at an in-house brand design team.
  • Organizing/managing logos, toolkits and other assets.

The Essentials

  • A clean style with an eye for detail,
  • Strong knowledge of typography and layout.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (After Effects is a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and with other teams.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills Interest in environmental graphics, digital media, and/or motion design.
  • Experience working with video content is a plus.
  • Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graphic design program at an accredited four-year college.

The Job
As the Design Intern, Growth Marketing for HBO Max, you will get the chance to assist in driving the operational success for the creative and visual execution of WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, as well as the production and execution of marketing campaigns promoting it. The Design Intern will be focused on visual design, content creative design and typography. You will work in content design that brings campaigns and creative to life. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and hands-on with innovative Designers, Project Managers, Content Strategists, and Copywriters to conceptualize and execute visual creative concepts for HBO Max. You will be bringing great design to life under the guidance of experienced, creative leadership in a quick-paced learning environment, learning hands on from the best talent in the business.
The Daily

  • Your day to day will involve visual designs, content creative designs, active participation in creative briefings, assist in the development and execution of creative concepts (both independently and with the team.
  • You want to grow a knowledge base of digital and social platforms, as well as their use within growth marketing that will ultimately impact the big picture, and have a taste for it now.
  • Work on digital HBO Max campaigns to craft high quality, compelling marketing materials in a variety landing pages, web banners, emails, print, social media and mobile using various customer communication touchpoints, including motion, animation and video.
  • Under the guidance of leadership, execute on consumer facing touchpoints for growth marketing including but not limited to email, social, hbomax.com, experiential and in-app.
  • Responsible for ensuring artwork is ready for review by Senior Designer.
  • Stay up to date on the latest design and industry trends.
  • Passion for creating beautiful, pixel perfect visual designs that convey comprehensive skill of color palettes to bring campaigns and creative to life with a budding portfolio that demonstrates a strong foundational eye.
  • Opportunity to develop and/or strengthen presentation skills for pitching to design leadership and/or key business stakeholders.
