During the Design Your City program, you will develop a proposal for a place-based solution to a real, built environment problem in your community. You will learn valuable skills, tools, and best practices used in community-centered planning, including how to research the community’s history, analyze different data sources, understand the stakeholder landscape, and build support for your idea. At the end of Design Your City, you will pitch your proposal to a panel of professionals – who may be able to help bring your idea to fruition. You will also create an online project portfolio that you can include on your resume.

Design Your City is an 8-week program. The program sessions will run from January 12th to March 5th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-8pm and Fridays from 12pm-1pm.

Requirements
Current CUNY undergraduate student
Students cannot be in their freshman year
– Associate degree students must graduate between June 2021 and June 2022
– Bachelor degree students must graduate between June 2021-Dec 2023
Must be able to attend all sessions
A strong interest in the built environment and how cities are created, including neighborhood development, urban planning, urban design, economic development, urban data, or participatory planning
