Girls Who Code’s Strategy & Innovation team is looking for a spring/summer Experience Design Intern to design technology-based solutions that empower girls with legitimate confidence in their ability to learn computer science. The intern will be an integral part of the design process and make valuable contributions to further Girls Who Code’s effort to engage and empower young women to pursue Computer Science.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Design technology-driven solutions (eg. web application, mobile application) that meet stakeholder needs and further the goals of the Girls Who Code community
– Use and conduct design research to inform the design and efficacy of a solution
– Balance multiple design projects within a growing, collaborative team
QUALIFICATIONS
– Portfolio that demonstrates candidate’s strong user experience and visual design skills, ability to create wireframes and/or prototypes, and comfort designing for web and mobile environments
– Excellent communication and presentation skills and comfort providing and receiving constructive design feedback
– Proficiency within the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
– Recently completed or working towards a degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, or related field
– Flexibility and independence that comes from working on a new, growing design teamPassion for Girls Who Code’s mission
Nice to Haves
– Experience designing products that support student or organizational learning, products that support large communities, or knowledge of how people learn
– Experience working on projects that are aligned with the Girls Who Code educational philosophy
– Experience with any of the following: web or mobile programming; data analysis and visualization; user research
