Thinking of Graduate School?
NATIONAL PORTFOLIO DAY FOR PROSPECTIVE GRADUATE STUDENTS
Sunday, October 29 – hosted by Parsons School of Design, New York City
IT’S FREE–BUT YOU MUST RSVP FIRST
Graduate National Portfolio Days/Information Fairs are for students who have already completed (or are in the process of completing) a bachelor’s degree program and are looking to further their education at the graduate level. Graduate Portfolio Days follow the same format as Undergraduate National Portfolio Days and provide prospective graduate students with an opportunity to receive feedback on their portfolios and learn more about each attending school. The event also gives students the opportunity to learn more about curricula, faculty, application procedures, and other aspects of graduate admission. Graduate Portfolio Days are appropriate for those seeking admission to a graduate course of study that requires a portfolio submission. Even if you do not have a completed portfolio to share with the graduate faculty, we invite you to attend to ask questions and gather more information about the various schools.
Like National Portfolio Days, Graduate Portfolio Days are not examinations or competitions. Attendees should not expect to gain either admission or scholarships to colleges visited during the event. They will have the opportunity to get specific information about portfolio requirements for graduate study at each school visited, receive direct feedback on their artwork, ask questions about the school and program, and learn about the next steps involved in applying for admission.
Please bring 10-15 pieces of artwork; slides, small prints, photos, printed screen shots, and other small and portable finished pieces are acceptable. Please do not bring large finished pieces, sculpture, paintings, drawings, or more than 20 slides. You may also choose to bring your laptop or tablet device with saved images for viewing. The quality of your portfolio presentation is very important at the graduate level, so please review your presentation before arriving at the event. If you do not have a portfolio, you can still attend the event to speak with a faculty representative and learn more about his or her school.
