The 4A’s Foundation’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) is a highly intensive fellowship that provides diverse students with the opportunity to work in the advertising, communications and marketing industries. MAIP fellows interact with industry professionals on a day-to-day basis, work across multiple brands, and gain valuable professional ​credentials ​to secure their first job in the industry. Students selected for the annual 22-week fellowship program (12 weeks of virtual online ​training, a 10-week internship experience (with potential extension after MAIP), and 1-week for Face of Talent) will hone their skills in a variety of advertising/marketing disciplines.

MAIP fellows gain access to over 100 partner organizations and build a large network before kicking off their full-time career. 

​Throughout the MAIP experience, MAIP fellows:

  • Complete a series of virtual trainings designed to prepare fellows for the industry and their overall internship experience
  • Engage in a full-time internship with one of the 4A’s Foundation partner organizations 
  • Attend evening professional development sessions entitled “MAIP Labs.” MAIP Labs are based in the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
  • Participate in the MAIP summer project.
  • Meet with a MAIP Coach (a professional within the industry in some capacity who is dedicating time to assist you)  for 1:1 professional and personal development conversations.

Bold Beginners Internship Program

Bold Beginners is a paid nine-week summer internship program, designed to support interns as they gain real-world experience, learn more about healthcare advertising and connect with senior leadership.

Each week, interns will:

  • Team up with a designated mentor in their selected subject area
  • Attend weekly Lunch & Learns to gain exposure to our various agencies, brands and departments
  • Work together in groups on a Pitch for a real client, and present their ideas to senior leadership and C-level executives at the end of the summer
  • Participate in optional career development workshops to hone skills in business writing, resume building, public speaking and beyond

Interns may be expected to complete the program through a hybrid or fully remote schedule, depending on a team’s needs. You will be asked to indicate your format preference as part of the application process.

Graphic Design & Event Intern – QC School of Arts

The QC School of Arts is seeking a Queens College student to join our team as a motivated Graphic Design and Event Intern! The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in graphic design and must be available to work on-site during our upcoming 3-day Arts Leadership Bootcamp from Friday, March 8th, 2024 to Sunday, March 10th, 2024, with flexible hours ranging from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. To be considered, candidates must submit a resume along with samples of their graphic design work.

This position offers an hourly rate of $17 for a commitment of 5-10 hours per week leading up to the Bootcamp weekend, with the potential for extension into a longer internship with the School of Arts. The intern will report to the Associate Dean of the School of Arts.

DEPARTMENT ROLE 
The Graphic Design Department at NYSCI provides in-house graphic services for all departments and executives at NYSCI and manages the execution of the visual brand identity of the organization in external facing communications in the areas of print, digital design and signage. Design projects range from educational materials, promotional materials, print advertising, signage and video displays. The department plays an advisory role in web and exhibition related projects.  

FUNCTION 
Reporting to the Creative Services Manager this position will allow design students a chance to acquire work-related day-to-day skills in the area of graphic design, print, print production, digital design and signage.  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Update flyers and templated documents in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications 
• Fielding request for edits and changes to existing designs and publications 
• Operating in-house ink jet printers 
• Occasional hand production skills, i.e. trim out in-house printed posters  
• Familiarity with museum’s extensive photo archive. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
• Excellent design and typography skills 
• Junior/Senior college student 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 
• Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop 
• Illustration skills a plus. 
• Attention to detail. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
• Strong layout skills a plus 
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Chinese a plus. 
• Experience in video editing/animation a plus. 
• Examples of current design/graphics arts work.

This role supports the design team and reports to the Director of Creative Operations. Hyperakt is looking for a summer design intern to support our design team with branding and digital projects. The design intern will be expected to:

  • Support the team: take on production tasks such as masking and retouching, design assets from existing guidelines, source photography and illustration, conduct research on printing and digital production, document Hyperakt’s past projects, package Adobe files, and create Google templates
  • Collaborate creatively: collaborate directly with designers and CDs to develop brand guidelines, create mockups, build figma prototypes, design wireframes, and brainstorm creative directions

Taking place on April 12–19, this intense eight-day workshop groups participants into teams to take on the challenge of solving and presenting real creative briefs. But don’t worry, you and your teammates won’t be alone — you’ll be mentored by some fantastic industry professionals all the way to the finish line, where the winning group will receive an internship at Team One!

While the content of this Creative Boot Camp will be of particular relevance to Black creatives, applications are open to all US-based students and recent grads looking to break into the industry.
