Honors & Scholarships Information Sessions

Thinking of studying abroad after you graduate? Planning on attending graduate school? Or are you a STEM major looking for research/graduate opportunities?

Wednesday, April 6th
Fulbright Information Session
12:15-1:30 pm, Honors Hall Room 17

Learn about fully funded grants for study, research, or English Teaching Assistantships in more than 140 countries. Must be on track to complete Bachelor’s degree by Spring 2017 to compete in next application cycle. All undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning more about the Fulbright Student Program are welcome to attend.

STEM Fellowships Information Session
12:15-1:30 pm, Honors Hall Room 12

There is an array of opportunities for students in the STEM fields. They range from funding for summer research to scholarships for graduate studies. Come to the information session to learn more about the different programs and opportunities!

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
12:15-1:30 pm, Honors Hall Room 17

Every year, the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States. Each Fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. Most importantly, new Fellows join a strong community of current and past Fellows who all share the New American experience. All interested students are welcome to attend.

Schwarzman Scholars Information Session

Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective international scholarship program designed to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. The program will give the best and brightest young leaders from around the world the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a fully-funded one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities. Those who want to learn more about the scholarship are welcome to attend.

Design and Tech Events (Week of Sept. 21st)

Razorfish Global Tech Summit (Sept. 22nd)
Professor Danne Woo will be demoing his data visualization software, Datavisual, next Tuesday, September 22nd at the Razorfish Global Tech Summit.
NYC Media Lab Summit (Sept. 25th)
Professor Andrew DeRosa and Professor Woo will both be demoing next Friday, September 25th, at the NYC Media Lab Summit. Professor DeRosa will be talking about his Speculative Design class and Professor Woo will also be demoing student work from his Creative Coding class.
Both of these events are great to attend to learn more about design, technology and to potentially find jobs and internships through networking. The Razorfish Summit is free to register and the NYC Media Lab Summit is only $15 for students to register.
If you do happen to attend either one of these events, make sure to stop by and say hello to Professor Woo and Professor DeRosa.

Congratulations to Professor Daniel Zender, winner of the ADC Young Guns 2015 award!
The Art Directors Club (ADC), hosts this annual global competition to celebrate outstanding creatives under the age of 30. Announcing this years recipients, Nicole Jacek, Chair of the Young Guns 13 Committee  commented “Young Guns is not about meeting a quota of winners, but awarding individuals that we unanimously agreed would be the next generation of cultural changing creatives.”
Professor Zender teaches Illustration, Design Foundations and Photoshop at Queens College, CUNY.
